INFLAMMATION OF THE JOINT
Therapy & Investigation
Inflammation of the internal lining of the joint (synovitis)
Disease: The internal lining covering the inner surface of the knee joint may get thicker, inflamed and may over-proliferate, due to a known or unknown reason.
Symptoms: This results in swelling and decreased mobility of the joint.
Treatment: The treatment comprises the eradication of the inflammatory focus, administration of anti-inflammatory drugs or tapping the intra-articular fluid (aspiration). In case these methods fail, the over-proliferated internal layer may be removed using arthroscopic surgical intervention, by the use of a special shaver. This method allows for histological analysis of the removed material and enables us to find the most effective way of treatment.
